City Water, Light and Power is joining communities throughout North America in recognizing Drinking Water Week May 3-9, 2026. This annual observance led by the American Water Works Association (AWWA) serves to highlight the importance of reliable, high-quality drinking water for customers. This year, CWLP is highlighting the value of its water, as well as the department’s history and some of the people behind the Water Division at CWLP. In the utility’s newly released, 2025 Water Quality Report, CWLP-produced drinking water met all USEPA and State of Illinois drinking water health standards and no violations of a contaminant level occurred.
“Drinking Water Week is a great opportunity to share how much work goes on behind the scenes to deliver safe, dependable water to our community,” said CWLP Chief Utility Engineer Scott Rogers. “Getting the proper investment into our system, ensures we can meet or exceed regulations and keep providing high quality water to our customers every day.”
CWLP Water Division Manager Todd LaFountain emphasized the role of employees and ongoing improvements in maintaining water quality. “The strength of our Water Division comes from the people who keep it running day in and day out,” said LaFountain. “As we continue upgrading mains service lines, and other critical water infrastructure, it’s our teams across operations, engineering, and field services who make it possible to deliver the level of service and water quality our customers expect.”
