2010 Kwedar Safe Boating Clinic Schedule Set
In cooperation with the Illinois Department of Natural
Resources, CWLP will offer two Kwedar Safe Boating Clinics during Spring
2010. The identical one-day courses will be held on Saturday, March 27, and
Saturday, April 17, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the utility's Property
Management Center, 200 E. Lake Shore Drive.
The free classes are open to anyone aged 12 or older
but are especially geared to teens. Everyone who successfully completes the
class will receive a boating Safety Certificate from DNR. This certificate
is required for persons aged 12 through 17 who wish to pilot motorized
watercraft solo on any Illinois waterway.
Course content includes: basic boat knowledge,
equipment, navigation, safety on and in the water, emergency measures, and
skipper's duties.
Although the Kwedar Safe Boating Clinic is free,
persons wishing to attend must pre-register by calling 757-8660. Children
under age 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and each
participant should bring a sack lunch and drink.
