The Illinois-based National
Safety Education Center, an Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA) Training Institute Education Center, awarded its
2009 Safety Excellence Award to CWLP's Safety Leadership Council (SLC).
This award is reserved for those employers who have shown dedication to
their employees through their commitment to providing ongoing safety and
health education.
Between the summer of 2008
and the fall of 2009, approximately 477 CWLP employees attended the
10-hour OSHA General Industry Outreach course and 112 supervisors
attended the 30-hour OSHA Occupational Safety and Health Standards for
General Industry course.
CWLP's SLC was established
in June 2007 by CWLP General Manager Todd Renfrow for the primary
purpose of improving workplace safety across all utility divisions.
Since then, CWLP has had 25% fewer OSHA-reported incidents.
