High-Efficiency Clothes Washer Rebate

NOTE: The Fiscal Year 2013 deadline for purchasing a qualifying high-efficiency clothes washer
and submitting your rebate application has PASSED. If new funding becomes available, the High-Efficiency Clothes Washer Rebate will be re-instated effective November 1, 2013. Please check back on or around that date for further information.

CWLP residential electric and water customers who replace an existing clothes washer with a qualifying new high-efficiency model from November 1, 2012, through February 15, 2013, could earn a $150 rebate from CWLP. Funding for the program is limited and rebates will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. Only one rebate is allowed per household. Clothes washers being purchased for placement in newly constructed homes are not eligible for this program.

Only units that qualify for "Tier 3" (the most energy- and water-efficient level) on the product list maintained by the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) and that do not use silver ion technology are eligible for the rebate. CEE updates its product list around the middle of each month, so customers interested in this program should check back routinely for the latest list of models eligible for a CWLP rebate.

To get your CWLP High-Efficiency Clothes Washer Rebate:

What Benefits Do High-Efficiency Clothes Washers Offer?
Clothes washing accounts for more than 20% of the water used inside the average home. Older, conventional washing machines can use over 50 gallons of water per cycle. Today's high-efficiency models, which are readily available in retail stores throughout Springfield, use 50% less water and energy than their older counterparts. They perform better in other ways, too, providing more complete cleaning while using less detergent and reducing wear and tear on your clothes. New high-efficiency models also remove more water during the spin cycle so loads have to spend less time in the dryer.
