The CWLP Great Refrigerator Roundup Rebate CWLP offers a pilot program that provides a $50 rebate for each qualifying refrigerator or freezer retired and recycled by our customers. The "CWLP Great Refrigerator Roundup" aims to improve energy efficiency in Springfield by encouraging customers to remove up to 1,200 pre-1993 refrigerators and freezers from service. Units this old typically use two to four times more electricity than newer ENERGY STAR® models and cost their owners $150 to $225 per unit per year in excess energy costs. To qualify for the program, refrigerators/freezers must be 10 to 27 cubic feet in size and must be in working condition. Other eligibility criteria also apply. Each customer can recycle up to two units, for a maximum rebate of $100. To make the program even more attractive and convenient, your old refrigerator will be picked up and disposed of free of charge, and 95% of the unit, including all ozone-depleting CFC refrigerants, will be recycled. You'll receive your rebate check within four weeks of the pickup date. The program is being administered by Appliance Recycling Centers of America (ARCA). As an added bonus, while picking up old refrigerators/freezers, ARCA now also provides each program participant with free haul-away and recycling of up to two old, inefficient window/wall air conditioners. The air conditioners must be in working condition and must be removed from the window or wall by the customer prior to the pickup time. No rebate will be available for the cooling units. For more information about the program, visit the ARCA website. To schedule a pickup, visit www.refrigeratorroundup.com.
