Super-Charged Insulation Rebate The more efficient the thermal shell of a building is, the less energy it will require for cooling and heating; and the less energy it uses for cooling, the less that building will contribute to CWLP's summer peak demand. One way to make a building more energy efficient is to equip it with an adequate layer of insulation. In uninsulated or under-insulated buildings, adding insulation usually provides a great value for your efficiency expenditure because it offers year-round benefits at a relatively low cost. To encourage CWLP residential and commercial electric customers to make your buildings more energy efficient, CWLP has a Super-Charged Insulation Rebate program. This program offers rebates equal to 30% (up to a maximum rebate of $500) of the cost of purchasing and installing qualifying insulation in properties receiving CWLP retail electric service. In new construction, the rebate is available only for material and labor costs associated with above-code levels of insulation that are installed. The rebate also applies to costs incurred as a result of installing qualifying passive (non-mechanical) ventilation systems. The Super-Charged Insulation Rebate applies only to purchases/installations made on or after September 1, 2007.
In cases where above-code insulation is being installed in new speculative construction, the builders may choose either to take the rebates for themselves or to pass rebate eligibility along to their buyers. The decision is entirely up to each individual builder. To receive your insulation rebate, you must submit an insulation rebate application. See the table below if you wish to download a copy of the Insulation Rebate Application from this website or receive a hard copy from the CWLP Energy Services Office. Your application must be received by CWLP within one year of the insulation's installation date (or purchase date if the insulation is bought and installed by the customer rather than an insulation contractor). Your insulation rebate will be issued as a credit to your CWLP electric bills. CWLP reserves the right to make on-site inspections of any
insulation installation before granting the rebate.
