Lake Springfield’s eight parks offer a number of special facilities that can be reserved by the public for special occasions. These include 26 unsheltered picnic areas, eight softball diamonds, nine covered pavilions, and two enclosed buildings. All of these facilities can be reserved by calling (217) 757-8660, ext. 1011. Reservations for the two enclosed buildings (Lake Beach House and Bridgeview Park Building) are taken year-round; reservations for pavilions, picnic areas and ball diamonds are taken starting in January for the upcoming summer. With the exception of the two enclosed buildings, there is no charge for reserving these facilities. Reservations are offered on a first-come/first-served basis.

Lake Beach House and Recreation Room

The Beach House is located in Center Park, just north of Lindsay Bridge. It consists of two large rooms connected by a central foyer. The facility accommodates up to 200 people. It contains a kitchen with a stove/oven, large refrigerator, ice machine, serving counter, numerous tables and chairs and two working, wood-burning fireplaces. IA rental fee and security deposit are required.

Bridgeview Park Building

The Bridgeview Park Building is located in Bridgeview Park. This building, which contains a working stove/oven and refrigerator, as well as a serving counter and numerous tables and chairs, can accommodate up to 150 people. It has a large grassy lawn and a nearby playground for the kids. The Bridgeview Park Building is available year-round from 9 a.m. to midnight. A rental fee and security deposit are required.

Pavilions

Pavilions (covered shelters with open sides) accommodating groups of up to 75 people are located in East and West Tom Madonia Parks, Bridgeview park, Lake Park, and the Wildlife Sanctuary. In addition, two smaller pavilions, each capable of holding up to 20 people, are located in Center Park. Each shelter contains several picnic tables and is located near a grill. Most are near playground equipment. Restroom facilities are within walking distance of all pavilions and, from April through mid-November, Center and Bridgeview parks have handicap-accessible temporary restrooms. Pavilions can be reserved free of charge.

 

Uncovered Picnic Areas

Each of the lake-area parks contains unsheltered picnic areas, which can be reserved at no charge. Restrooms are within walking distance of all picnic areas and, from April through mid-November, Center and Bridgeview parks have handicap-accessible temporary restrooms.

 

Softball Diamonds

The eight lake-area softball diamonds are located in Center Park (five diamonds), East Cotton Hill Park, West Cotton Hill Park, and the Wildlife Sanctuary (one diamond each). They can be reserved at no charge. Each diamond is within walking distance of restroom facilities.
