In addition to the CWLP-owned and operated parks, the marginal lands around Lake Springfield support other recreational facilities, including a public golf course, a children's zoo and a natural garden.

Lincoln Greens Golf Course: This beautiful and challenging 18-hole lakeside course is operated by the Springfield Park District. It is open for play every day between 5 a.m. and dusk. For more information, call 786-4000.

Henson Robinson Children's Zoo: This 10.5 acre park features domestic and native wild animals, as well as exotic animals, birds and fish. The zoo is open year-round. Daily hours of operation are: Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., March through October; and daily, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.,  November through February. Admission is $2 for adults, 75¢ for children over age 3, and $1 for Senior Citizens. Children aged 3 and under are admitted free. The zoo features special children and family days throughout the year, including Dr. Doolittle Day in May; the Fur, Feather, Fin Fall Fling in early October; Zoolie Ghoulie in late October; and Holiday Lights in December. Lincoln Memorial Garden and Nature Center: Stroll through five miles of garden hills covered with lush greenery and native trees. Consult the experts on nature and gardening. The grounds are open year-round from sunrise to sunset. The Nature Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Summer camps for kids begin in June.
