CWLP's free Low-Cost/No-Cost Efficiency Workshops are designed to help residential customers learn how to make do-it-yourself improvements to their homes that will result in increased comfort and lower energy costs.

The workshops are normally offered at least once each spring and fall. Additional workshops are offered as public interest warrants. The workshops are open to all CWLP residential electric customers, and our particular focus is on reaching those living on low or fixed incomes who can't afford to hire outside help to make efficiency improvements to their homes. These public workshops are normally held in the evening. Pre-registration is required and space is limited.

We also offer the Low-Cost/No-Cost Workshops, upon request, to neighborhood associations, church groups, civic clubs and other organizations that anticipate an audience of between 15 and 50. Whenever possible, we attempt to schedule these on-demand workshops to meet the needs of the requesting organization.

Workshop participants learn tips and tricks to maximize home comfort while minimizing their energy costs. Emphasis is placed on efficiency improvements that the participants can make themselves for little or no cost. Participants also have a chance to gain hands-on experience applying caulk, weatherstripping and flexible plastic storm windows and to talk one-on-one with the CWLP Energy Experts about specific home efficiency problems they are encountering.

At the end of the workshop, each participant receives a free home efficiency "starter kit" containing a caulk gun, tube of caulk, flexible plastic storm window kit, outlet and switchplate gaskets, and caulking cord.

The schedule of public Low-Cost/No-Cost Efficiency Workshops to be held during the current calendar year can be found on the News page of this website. To pre-register for a public workshop or to schedule a Low-Cost/No-Cost Workshop for your organization, contact the CWLP Energy Services Office.
